Just an update. I received the WD7500AZRX drive today from Western Digital, installed Windows 7 and all updates, and I still get the "select boot device" error. So, I'd say it is definitely an incompatibility issue between the chipset and WD SATA 3 drives since the Seagate SATA 3 worked fine.
