I just put windows 7 on my computer not to long ago and all of the sudden I get this error message when i turn on my pavilion p6142p desktop computer "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key" I have tried tightening my cords and checking them, cleaning them and everything but nothing seems to work and all the other forums say to go into the bios and change the boot order and what not but i can only get the computer screen to turn on and bring up the error 1 time out of every 400 tries and all the other times the monitor doesn't even recognize the computer but it is on. so what can i do to fix this? Oh and i don't have any sort of win 7 install disk to go with the computer it broke...

Boot into BIOS setup by tapping the key given on first screen (often F10 on HP) to see if HD is set first to boot. If not check if HD is even detected under storage devices. You can post back some camera snaps of the menus if you need help.

Did you follow the steps shown here to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7?

In particular I'd wipe the HD first with Diskpart Clean Command from the DVD Command Line and then create your partition(s) during install so that any leftovers aren't interfering.
