Reboot Loop

I have spent the last week trying all different solutions to try to fix my reboot loop issue. I get the Message that says "Preparing to configure Windows, Please do not turn off your computer" the screen goes black and it boots to that same message again and the cycle repeats. I have tried a repair disk, creating a 'mybackup' through the command prompt, I have tried EasyRE but no luck. I have tried having my system run an integrity check of my windows install and still nothing. Any help would be really appreciated. my system specs are in my profile.

Hi Reigheart, welcome to the Forum.

Is this problem showing after you have done a reinstall of Windows, or after a series of Windows Updates?.

Windows did a forces update the night before this happened.

Do you have a Windows 7 installation DVD?. If so you should run that & carry out Start Up Repair. Make sure you have the DVD drive set as the first boot device. You may need to access the BIOS to set the boot order so the DVD drive is the first one.

I have run start up repair before posting and I made no difference to the pc

Hi

Try this method.

Upon switching on the computer, keep pressing F8 key on the very top.

This will go the Startup Menu.

Select "Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)"

System will boot prior to the time that the computer boot up is good.

Do this solve your issue.

There is a possibility either the download & update was not done completed, prior to this.

Don't mind if i say to try a different method.

You computer is off, right.

Switch on the computer and pressing F2 to BIOS setting.

Change the boot order to start with optical drive, next HDD.

F10 Save and boot.

Note: This is not about optical drive or HDD, but more on getting the BIOS to save as new setting.
This is to avoid or rewrite the BIOS setting, as you have done this before, i hope.

Then proceed to F8.

The question is why i want to insist on using the "Last Know Good Conf.."
This is that most probably the Windows did a force update, which is when you press the Shutdown button, right.

Whenever windows did an update, it will do create a restore point.
On whether the restore point is or may not be created yet.

Also, "Last Known .." could use info on the shutdown prior to you last shutdown with updates.

Meaning, 2 days ago you shutdown and able to start without any problem.
Yesterday the shutdown with windows updates could be a problem.
So this will enable the system to read the 2 days ago shutdown as Last Known Good Config..

Sorry to say, i am not sure myself if it really work or not.

I based on Logic, as computer do also based on logic.

And every shutdown, it will do marked as good if the next boot up is good.

So, give it a try.

One issue, my tower doesn't accept and optical drive drive so I have to use anow external CD whenever I use a CD

No no no.

What i meant is to make the BIOS setting to save to new setting.

Do change something, save, change back and save again.

I do not mean it must be optical drive; as you can use USB instead.
