Must say, I'm happy with my new HP laptop even though it only has a 5400rpm drive.

Have to admit it's a clean install of W7 x64, but I haven't disabled any services. Will post again once I've loaded latest drivers, anti-virus etc.

What is MSE? i use Avast myself, have done for quite a while, even BOUGHT a licence!lol. so is MSE better than Avast?

edit, i found this thread, and also realised its still beta. maybe once its final and proven working well i will upgrade. but by then it will prob not be free either (it is microsoft).
http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/15641-how-good-mse-really.html

hopefully it will still run fast on the system when its final and not slow the system down like other virus programs.

i wonder why Antman was banned??

MSE is Mircrosoft Security Essentials, kinda smartly named with Essentials after it like the Windows Live Suite.

And yes, MSE runs very smoothly and in quite a quiet manner, and only shows its face if something ain't right.

I'd tell you why Antman got banned, but if i want to keep my place on this Forum, it's better i keep my mouth shut.

hmm not really off topic as one may think, it shows MSE is a good anti virus/malware program to use so there is less drag when booting :p

Has your system performance changed since switching to MSE? does it feel faster or slower compared to your previous anti virus?

it just seems to not affect m boot up time at all.
or just maybe 5 seconds? i think after clean install of windows 7 i think it was 45 seconds and with MSE = 45 seconds <333
so it works perfect for me

Here is my restart time:

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/4439/desktoput.jpg

I must say, this is with all the programs I use already installed, including Office 2007, Live Messenger, iTunes, etc, and of course with unnecessary programs removed from startup.

And the real time since I press the "On" button until my home page loads in Firefox is about 70 seconds. :D I'm quite happy, compared to how it was with Vista, and I have another laptop, brand new but with Windows XP, and all the programs, it's much slower than 7.
