Recommended things to do after Windows 7 unexpected shutdown?

I've always wondered this question. I am not talking about a shut-down due to some error in Windows 7, but rather if say there is a power outage and your computer shuts-down unexpectedly mid session.

After you restore power and turn-on your computer again, are there any recommended repair utilities you should run in order to fix any potential errors/problems that might have been caused due to Windows 7 improperly shutting down?

What I usually do is run ScanDisk on all my hard drives, run a program called "CClean" to clean up any temporary files on C:, and run some registry error fixing utility that I use called "Auslogics SpeedBoost".

But are there any other steps I should do? Are there better recommended programs to run that fix things that might be broken after an improper shut-down?

Welcome
In the situation that you describe hard drive problems are always a big possibility. To try and avoid this, try these steps
Wait at least 10 minutes and then:
First, try alt, cntrl, delete, which may end the procees
Then
Try to hold the power buttton for about 10 seconds, this may also be a normal shutdown.
Finally pull the plug (battery on lappy)
Dont run registry stuff, now or ever, except for ccleaner.
Run scan disc and chk for errors.

Thanks for your reply, but I fear you have misunderstood my question!

I am talking about situations where the computer shuts-down unexpectedly due to *external* circumstances which have nothing to do with Windows, i.e. a power-outage!

You should run chkdsk to fix any file system errors.
