Recovering System files to a different partition

Anybody familiar with using the Toshiba Recovery Disk for Windows 7 Pro?

I have a Toshiba L450-EZ1543 with XP in the C: partition. I want to install Win7 Pro onto another, currently empty partition. This Laptop had Win7 Pro factory installed, however I reformatted the disk and installed XP Pro instead.

Now I want to keep XP in the C: partition but I also want to install the W7Pro onto another partition, using the original Recovery Disk which came with the Laptop .

My question is: If I boot from the recovery disk, will it automatically install/recover W7 Pro to the C: disk (where I now have my XP) or, will it give me the possibility to recover/install Windows 7 to another partition and keep the other partitions in the disk intact?

Thank you very much for your help

Loubie

Better to get the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
booting the installer provided to get best performance from Win7 in its native state without the corrupting factory bloatware.

In addition when you install from booted DVD and choose the partiiton you've selected, it will configure a Dual Boot menu with XP automatically during install.

Stick with the steps in the blue link tutorial to get a perfect install.

To use the Recovery bloatware disks you'd have to save an XP backup image first since it would overwrite XP on C, then reimage XP to another partition and add it from Win7 to a Dual Boot using EasyBCD (click Download - no Name or Email required)

The Windows 7 installer will let you chose into which partition you want to install. Use the 'Custom' option.
