I would work on getting an external HD to store the backup image in case of HD failure.

I would also not change anything about the image except if necessary to move it into a folder for storage if another WindowsImageBackup folder is needed to be placed on the external. You must then move it back into the root of the external for it to be detected by the booted Repair CD or Win7 DVD Recovery.

Anything else you change may make it undetectable when needed.

i have made an rescue.iso with the help of macrium which is only of only 12.8 mb(i will burn it after knowing about it).. how it can be so small as it is having the image of my entire hard drive..

That ISO is for the Recovery Disk used to Create or Re-Image to/from a stored image on external, just like one uses the Win7 DVD or Repair CD to recover using the Win7 backup image. It will only burn a Macrium boot disk.

Once you burn the Macrium boot CD, boot it to see the options. You can save the image from the disk as well as recover using it. Or you can save the image from installed Macrium and save the disk in case you need to reimage if Win7 won't boot or the HD fails.

Starting with the rescue CD

so i think its better to burn a rescue.iso on a single cd rather than making system image with windows 7 as it is of 75 GB in my case..

The disk is only to boot to reimage the HD. It does not hold the image. The image needs to be saved externally on an external HD, or another computer on the network.

thank u for ur valuable reply... so the conclusion for people who lost their recovery partition and neither have recovery discs is to make a system image on external hard drive by windows image backup or by the macrium in case of hard disk failure,, and in the case when windows file get corrupted we can use system repair disc to fix it.. Am i right???

Yes, you'd want to try to repair Win7 using troubleshooting steps or other steps for if Windows 7 fails to boot.

If these fail or you've lost HD, functionality, or desired performance then reimaging the HD with the stored backup image from the booted Repair Disk (or Macrium boot disk) takes about 20 minutes and is a lot faster and easier than reinstalling.

i m having hp pavilion g7-1219wm notebook with windows 7 Home premium sp 1 OEM.
by accidentally Recovery partition from the hard disk is removed so that i m not able to use some function in HP Recovery Manager like System Recovery and Recovery Media creation..
please help me how can i restore/recover this deleted Recovery Partition..

Using Partition recovery software to fix this problem is the proper way because most partition managers have an undelete function. You can also use a partition manager to relocate the unallocated place to make a drive. And if you have lost some of your data then you can recover it by using a recovery tool.

ohh thanks... i have understood....
Some more doubts exist. these are:
1.if i stored a system image of my C drive(Active,Primary) and system D drive on same internal hard disk on a logical drive,
will i be able to do system image backup during booting with repair disc??
2.if i have formatted the hole hard disk and now i have installed windows 7home premium sp 1(which was was my OEM before formatting) from a copied dvd(not genuine) which i have taken from my friend. will i be able to activate it with the product key on the sticker on the bottom side of my laptop??
3.belrac advisor showing different product key of windows from which is given on bottom side of my laptop!!!!!!! why???
4.is there any way to make a installation dvd with the windows file on the active partition????

1)It would be best to store the image on a Primary partition on another HD or external in case of HD failure. Most users store the image on an external HD.

I've already explained D is no longer the System drive and is not being used as a result. The repairs apparently transferred the System boot files to C, most likely because it had been marked Active somehow. We know without doubt the System boot file are on C because it holds the System label - regardless of the name was once given to D.

For this reason you can delete D and use a Primary partition elsewhere. This is achieved by converting one of the Logical partitions to Primary using free Partition Wizard bootable CD after deleting D. You can also use PW to Resize C to the left to take up the deleted D space if you want. Partition Wizard Use the Bootable CD

You can temporarily store the image on the new Primary partition until you get an external HD.

2,3) You are asking to Clean Reinstall Windows 7 Factory OEM? We can help you with this.
All of the steps are in the blue link to get the vastly superior clean reinstall. There is no need to use any installer except the official Win7 ISO with SP1 which is linked in steps, written to flash stick or burned to DVD using tool provided.

If you already did this and used a Win7 retail installer for your licensed version then it should activate, possibly requiring the robocall described in the steps above. The key Belarc found is the OEM-SLP factory mass activation key which is not used for clean reinstall - use the OEM-COA key on sticker which transfers activation to MS servers.

Actually the easy method is to format and reinstall the system. Sometimes it may failure to recover the files you want. I have deleted my photos accidentally then find a photo recovery software to recover them, Somehow, i lost many precious photos.

If you format to reinstall, it will under no circumstances recover your files which must be done before you format.

You will lose your files if you format the HD, making them nearly impossible to recover except by expensive methods.

To recover your files before install see the note in Step 3 to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
