recurring BSOD, errors: 0x00000024 and 0x00000003B

Hello,

my laptop continues to throw BSOD's. I spent the weekend chasing an error 0x00000003B (SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION) and seemed to have made progress by reinstalling new video drivers for its intel HD core i7 (the generic one from intel doesn't install correctly, but eventually I found one through the microsoft site that seemed to reduce BSOD frequency). Today though, in just 1 hour of use, a BSOD with a new error message (0x00000024) came up...
I am beat: this machine has been misbehaving from day one to the point I had to revert to using my old one. It's been in for repair twice...

Has anyone a clue of what may be going on?

I uploaded both diagnostics, relative to each error. Very grateful for anyone who can help me to fix it.

Probably caused by : fileinfo.sys ( fileinfo!FIStreamGetInfo+11f )

Usual causes:  Disk corruption, insufficient physical memory, Device driver, Indexing, Resident antivirus, backup, defrag programs, Disk/Drive failing/failure

The bugcheck indicates a problem occurred with the driver which controls file system, and enables Windows to write and read data to the hard-drive. Physical hard-drive corruption or a corrupted IRP packet can cause this problem also.

Remove:

Start Menu\Programs\Avira	
Start Menu\Programs\Avira\Avira Desktop

It's to remove this Avira using the official Avira Removal Tool, and then using these free and proven alternatives.

Install and perform full scans with:

• Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download
• Microsoft Security Essentials | Protect against viruses, spyware, and other malware

Remember to install the free version of Malwarebytes not the free trail; untick the free trial box during installation. MSE is the most lightweight and compatible with the Windows 7 operating system

Update all programs prior to scanning

Run some hard-drive diagnostics and follow these steps:

Find your hard-drive manufacturer and run their tests.

Additional Tests:

• SeaTools for DOS | Seagate
• CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World

   Note

You may use the Windows Segate Tools as it may be easier to use and understand.

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:

• SSD firmware
• BIOS Version
• Chipset Drivers
• Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
• If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

Check for any file system errors and bad sectors using Option #2 of:

Use this command with Disk Check:

chkdsk C: /f /r

Hello,

I ran all the tests you suggested but so far no errors popped up anywhere... all seem to pass.

I tend to think it must have to do with hardware or low-level stuff like bios or drivers because the machine crashes very often, irrespective of whether it's running windows or linux.

Anyway, I changed the anti virus, ran the tests uploading their results as suggested. Hope they help to give some useful indication...

Lets run SFC /SCANNOW

Open up an Elevated Command Prompt. Click on rb: button type CMD inside Search programs and files box. Right click on CMD under Programs (1) choose Run as administrator . On the USER ACCESS CONTROL window click on the Yes button or press Alt+Y keys on your keyboard( Same as clicking on the Yes button ) . On the command prompt type the command below

SFC /SCANNOW

Press <ENTER>

   Note

Command Prompt should open up to C:\Windows\System32>_ Path

If SFC locates any corrupted files upload the CBS.LOG file

CBS.LOG location : C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.LOG

At first, make it sure that your INTEL X25-M 160 GB Internal SSD is running with an up to date firmware.

Next, you have two different real time protection program installed at once.

Start Menu\Programs\AVG
c:\program files\microsoft security client\msseces.exe

Uninstall AVG using AVG Remover. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Plan to update the display driver.

Hi VistaKing,

thanks for your help.

Removed the double virus protection (don't know why, I thought I had removed AVG earlier already).

I tried sfc scan, but it did not yield any errors. Uploaded here the result and CBS logfile anyways, if you see anything into them. I also got a new BSOD, documented in the attached doc.

Now I go on to testing and verifying the ssd and other points from Arc.

The Intel® SATA Solid-State Drive Firmware Update Tool won't run: I burned the iso onto a USB, SD, and finally DVD (had to go borrow a DVD player) but always the same result: Remove disks or other media / press any key to restart during boot.
I think I followed the instructions on the intel pdf, but maybe i am missing something... will try the other things now

You need to update the firmware. If it is not upto date, it is a must for a stop 0x24.

I dont find any reason. He already has the perfect version of AHCI controller installed.

• more blue screens (collecting new bug errors, now another 0x000000a, see screen capture)
• was able to update the SSD and video driver (the 0x000000a happened after updating the video driver)
• the exact SSD model is: Intel SSD X25-M 160GB, and it should be now running the latest firmware( info about the SSD also in the attached doc)
