Intel i3 W7 Home Premium

Trying to solve another problem I noted that in C:\users\mylogin\AppData\local\Application Data that A: this looked like a shortcut, and B: there existed many , many layers of ..\Application Data\. All levels seem to have the same set of {hex foldername} and normal folders. There were thousands (69,729 files in 5,538 folders occupying 4.10GB).

Some dates were 18 months old, same age as the laptop. Some new.

Can that be right?

Can I wipe this stuff?

No you cannot wipe this stuff...You are getting this problem because you changed permissions which where there to stop this from happening.

Thanks LE - I guess I made my own login account Administrator after buying the laptop.

You're saying each lower level of ...\Application Data\... represents an attempt, successful or unsuccessful, to alter permissions on that account. Or, on some account.

Pity the HDD now has to drag all that useless data around.

......All levels seem to have the same set of {hex foldername} and normal folders......
"seem" being the operative word here.
The cake is a lie... or, in this case, a junction.

...Pity the HDD now has to drag all that useless data around.
The data that these junctions points to is not useless and these junctions points do not duplicate the data on the drive.
