I have Win 7 Ultimate 64bit on my laptop's C:drive and I want to replace it with Win XP 64bit. I've tried to install XP from the installation cd but installation always ends up with the BSOD. Does ne1 of a way I can completely reformat my drive and have a clean install of XP?

Hello okizen Welcome to the Seven Forums!

The first thing I would ask here is if the 64bit 7 install came preinstalled with the laptop new? Another thing to consider before attempting any reversion or even considering a possible dual boot of Windows 7 with the 64bit XP Pro would be first finding out what driver support is found if any! http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp.html

The 64bit XP wasn't too well supported by manufacturers leaving much to be desired while often 64bit drivers for Windows Server 2003 had to be used as substitutes for things like addon hardwares. The first best place would be at the laptop's manufacturer's support site to find out if any updates for the 64bit XP were ever available however.

As for seeing any hard drive reformatted or even repartitioned and reformatted to start off with a new primary you have several options available including the DiskPart drive tool included in Windows. Many prefer a gui however over the command prompt method of manually entering commands and will go for a free partitioning program like Paragon Partition Manager or the Linux live for cd program GParted which can also be written to a usb flash drive made bootable.

The first thing on the check list however is finding out whether or not x64 drivers for XP can be found for that make and model laptop.

BAD NEWS on XP! On looking up the support site for that make as well as model the downloads available are strictly for Vista and 7 32bit and 64bit! No support not even for the 32bit XP! http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=driver_download2#

Once you arrive at the support page you have to agree to their terms first and then arrive at the page were all models are listed. Since this apparently is too new of a model series and XP support was dropped entirely.
