Regarding Dual-Screen

Hello 7Forums!

Every time I run World of Warcraft, I'll always have Skype, Firefox etc. on. And it seems to have affected the game to lag a little bit. If I minimize the Skype, or browser, the lag is gone.
This should probably be posted in the Game Section, but I thought its regarding the screens also

So is this normal? I have 4GB of RAM, and running 32-bit. As my specs said, I have a Nvidia GTX 260

I may not be an expert here. But I think you're running too much at once, probably running out of RAM

Should'nt be.
I would guess you'll accelerate your GPU while you focus more windows at once + the game.

I doubt it is the memory usage, although you are wasting part of your memory by running a 32-bit OS. It is probably due to the workload on the processor and GPU. If you are playing a game, shut down the extra apps you won't be using.

Well, I use Skype while playing nothing more, but if the window is not maximized but is showing on the second monitor, it lags a bit. It's probably normal. Installing 64-bit will use all the RAM? And is it recommended for such a low RAM. I heard the minimum is 4GB.. but 32 or 64-bit for a pretty good pc with 4GB?

As of now, you are using only 3.25 GB at the very most, maybe less depending on your video card. An x64 OS would use all 4 GB. In my personal opinion, any system with 4 GB should have x64 installed. I don't think this is related to your issue, though.

I'm having the GTX 260, i'm researching how much it's sharing of my memory.

And secondly.. I don't know if this is an issue, I mean, the game is accelerating your GPU, and so does the windows behind. It's two different things and might disturb the currently game. It could be something with the game settings also!

I use Skype to communicate to the ones i'm playing with by using microphone
As for the W7, I install 64-bit sooner or later.

3GB limit is true, but you can bypass it by forcing PAE

also you can make ramdisks with ramdisk (XD), which can be set as the directory of the paging files in control panel

There should be a law against recommending PAE on a desktop system...unless of course, you are interested in ruining the OP's system stability.

Seriously...if you want 4 GB of memory usage...don't recommend a "hack"-like tweak that can be unstable...do it properly with an x64 OS.

+1 for that

The other thing to look at is what else is running on startup with the machine. As in whats in your system tray? Also make sure you have the pagefile turned on and set to auto or 1.5 times the amount of ram you have if set manually. Also try disabling Areo.

Since bandwidth seems to be the problem, have you tried the mmcss tweak yet?

Leave the multimedia class scheduler service running, but disable its network throttling "feature":

• Open regedit
• Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
• There will be an entry for network performance throttling, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF hex (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)
• Reboot

That's a good idea; however, it's going to solve nothing we're talking about today. Your issue isn't that you need access to another 750MB RAM.
