Registry Access Denied......

I'm not sure exactly where I would post this thread so if this needs to be moved, please feel free to do so.

Heres my deal:

I use VNC for work (allows me to remote into clients computers) and when I installed this application on my laptop, I am getting a --RegCreateKeyEx: Access is denied. (5)-- error.

I know that RegCreate means it is trying to create a registry file, so my question is how do I allow access for this?

Also, I haven't had any other problems with any other applications. So what makes this different?

I am running Windows 7 Pro.

Thank you.

Brian

Try being on an Administrator account.
If you are, install it as an Admin (through right click).

I resolved the issue.
I had tried running the program as Administrator and this allowed the program to install. Then I would get a RegOpen.... error when I would try to remote into a client machine.
So I went to the UAC and tuned the settings off, restarted, tried to remote into a machine, success, turned the UAC back on, continued success.

if you had right-clicked the app prior to running, and selected "run as administrator" it would have let you create the key.

Well I didn't actually have a .exe for this specific program. Everything is web based. When you click the VNC link for whatever you're trying to remote into, it just does its thing. After bringing this issue up with some coworkers, it turns out that I'm the first person to ever have this problem.

I think the real root of this problem was with my registry though. Previous to this, I was also unable to run a scan disk or defrag and I would get corrupt file errors when I tried to run 7's remote desktop and a few other programs. I restored the registry and everything seems to now be in working order.
