Solved Remove permissions entirely when sharing

Hello,
I am attempting to share some folders with the other computers on the network however I am struggling to do so. It seems no matter what I do, 1/3 of the time folders will still say "you lack the appropriate permissions blah blah blah" when attempting to access the folder from another computer on the network. I right click the folder, head into "advanced sharing", and add every available option including "everyone". Permission to read, write, etc etc.
Yeah, still doesn't share the folder some times.

How do I remove permissions from the process in the long-term? I find it to be tedious, bulky, unnecessary and buggy. I am looking to setup this computer so every other computer on the network can access every single file on every single drive without hesitation or error. System files can be an exception if they must.

I am willing to spend hours to set this up, so long as I do not have to deal with 'permissions' ever again. How would I go about this? It's just in the way at this point, I'm on a home network that's secure.

You have to enable full control to everyone. The only way to do that is to ADD that option is advanced sharing, permissions.

I have done what you suggested. It works with 2/3 folders, but not with the rest. I am assuming it's simply a bug, although it may not be. It just makes no sense. All the folders contain only video files of the same type. Why some work and some don't is truly beyond me.

I am looking for a solution that does not involve me adding permissions for individual folders. I am willing to deal with permissions to set this all up, however come next week, I don't want to deal with permissions on folders more than very rarely. I'm sure this is possible, just a matter of getting the entire drive shared and all content that is written in the future to apply to those settings.

If this is on the C drive and it is windows 7 there is no way to allow full access to all the folders.

One other option is to have a password set on the user account and from other computers you log on to the one you want everything shared. You also have to share the whole drive. Right click the drive letter in Win explorer and select properties. Go to the sharing tab and Share the drive. Set the permissions for that user to Full Control. That is the way I have all my win 7 pcs setup and I can get to all folders on every PC except the OS specific restricted folder like system Volume Information. I can't even get to that one locally.

That's odd. Did you add the User account name, Add, type in the user account name then click ok and then give it full control. That should be for the whole drive other then selected OS specific folders. When accessing from another system you must log in using the user account name and password you gave full control to.

The link below shows you how to change the inheritable permissions of an object. Starting at step 5, it also has a link to the Take Ownership file which will allow you to take ownership of those folders you were having problems with.

Also, in order to gain full control over a drive you need to access the Security tab then add Everyone per the link below. It's best to gain full control at the C:Users folder rather than trying to share the entire C: drive.

Yes drive C: is just an assumed drive letter because it's default. I believe the settings under the Security tab will help you out.
