Can only say am regularly using CCleaner for deleting restore points (in xp, w7, w8), usually intermediate ones. Always seeing free disk space increase afterwards, and of course it's freeing space within what's allocated in System Protection > creating space for new rp's without deleting the rp's I want\need to keep.
