removing Macrium from right click menu

I installed Macrium Reflect version 6.2. Can I remove it from the right click menu? I don't see any settings like that.

I've never done this.
I would not do it without first creating a registry backup and a system image backup.

Here's a pic of the registry key i see for the Macrium context menu entry:



You could also try using the NirSoft utilities if you don't want to edit the registry.

You may be creating potential headaches altering the registry. It appears in my right click menu although I never start it that way - so what?

If you happen to use CCleaner, there's a simple way to disable items in the context menu. Click Tools > Startup > Context Menu. Highlight (click on) the item you want to disable, then click on the Disable button. The next time you open the context menu you won't see the disabled item. If you later change your mind it's just as easy to enable the item so it shows up again.

Thanks. I do use CCleaner. But I have two listed, drive and file. Disable both or just the one?

I'd first disable File and see if that removes it from the context menu. If it still appears then I'd disable Drive. (CCleaner is really good about warning if something isn't recommended or if disabling something might cause issues.)

I've been playing around with this in CCleaner and here's what i found.

Macrium has different right click menu options for backup image files, XML definition files, and Drives.

If you right click on a XML definition file it also shows Macrium Reflect as an option.

Your screen print in post #1 was for a Drive, so disable that.
If you don't want the File right click menu option in XML definitions, disable that also.

Right click on a Backup Image file and you see an Explore image choice - that runs Macrium.
I use this option, for me it's easier to find/explore the backup using Windows file Explorer than it is to find the backup image in the Macrium GUI.
I disabled both entries in CCleaner, and i still see the Explore image option for a backup image file.
From what i see, CCleaner doesn't disable this option for backup images, even if both entries are disabled.

I didn't know i could right click a XML definition and run a full or differential that way.
I like having that choice, so i have to set up more XML definitions and test using them.

I'm learning some new stuff about Macrium in this thread and that's great !
If anyone knows more and better ways to use these Macrium options, i'm all ears !

No, the XML file is not a backup image.
The XML file is a backup definition file.
It saves all the backup settings so you can more easily run that backup again.

When creating a backup image you will get a screen where you can save the XML file, just before the backup starts.
You can change the XML file name and folder where it is saved.
