Rename MANY pictures at once?

So I have a bunch of .png images with the filenames of numbers between 001MS and 493MS. Is there some way I can rename them all at once to remove the MS?

And instead of making another topic, Ill figure ill ask here. Do you know of a FREE program that can batch convert all these to .gifs?
