I have 2 issues here, but the 1st one I know I can fix. It's here just for some added info.
It's the 2nd one I am really concerned about.

1. When I try to connect to my MIFI 2200, it won't connect . It was connecting for a while, but I wanted to change some security settings on it, but screwed that up :o, so I did a factory reset on it, and now I can't seem to get it connected. When I click on "Troubleshoot problems", it tells me "The diagnostics policy service is not running." I have tried just about everything on the internet to fix the diagnostics thing, but to no avail :(.

2. I've been using this laptop for about a year, so I figured it could use a refresh. I decided to do a repair install, but it says Windows 7 cannot be installed because I need a bios upgrade. I do not understand this, as I am running Windows 7 (32 bit) Home Premium, already. :what:

The disk I am using came with the Dell. It says on the cover "For Refurbished PC's." Could this be (at least) part of the problem?

I have a refurbished:
-Had it for almost a year-

Dell Latitude - D620,
Intel T2400 @ 1.83GHz
80Gb HDD

To be honest, I don't know if the connection troubleshooter has ever worked . Any time I have ever tried to use it, I get the same problem.

I kinda' want to get the connection troubleshooter fixed 'cause I want to see if it is even very useful when it is working. :p

Thanks in advanced for any possible help.

BTW, I am posting this on my trusty old XP system :D.

This should/ maybe get the diagnostics policy service running..
Go to start ,search and type cmd, right click on cmd and select "run as administrator" at the prompt, type into cmd window.

net localgroup Administrators /add networkservice
press enter then type:
net localgroup Administrators /add localservice
press enter then type:
exit
press enter and restart your computer

Open services and make sure the service is started.

Already tried that

BrightBlessings,

I already tried that and just about anything else out there on the internet and in these forums. Please read my entire previous post. The internet part is not important. I want to do a repair install.

The service still won't start.

Golden,

Wish I could but I can't connect with my Win 7 laptop. I am on my old Win XP. I will try to get it connected tomorrow, and supply the info requested.

Just thought of something. I will download MGADiag Tool to a flash drive, run it on the laptop, then copy the data to notepad on the flash drive, then send it.

There is always a work-around!

You say...

he disk I am using came with the Dell. It says on the cover "For Refurbished PC's." Could this be (at least) part of the problem?

You can dowload a LEGAL Windows 7 ISO from here...

Legal Download from DigitalRiver: Windows 7 SP1, 13 languages

Please read through the website because of the advise and tools also available... e.g. there is also a tool available on the site to modify a file ei.cfg so that when run the ISO will ask WHICH version of Windows 7 you are installing... Windows 7 (32 bit) Home Premium, in this case...

Why not burn that to DVD/USB Stick and see if it solves your problem

Hope this was helpful

Could you post a picture on the Dell disk you have and one of the error you get about the BIOS?
