Hey guys,
After having a bsod problem with my windows 7, i installed windows 10 as dual boot on another drive and now i have access to the windows 10 and the windows 7 still freezes mid-logo and bsod then restarts to the boot repair..
I'd like to know if i can repair my windows 7 from the windows 10 desktop using the upgrade method wihtout losng the data ( i dont' have access to the pc right now that's why i'm asking ).
Also i cant boot windows 7 in safe mode.
Thanks for your help !
EDIT : Is it also possible if the above is not, to upgrade the windows 7 to windows 10 and still not loose data especially installed apps and their data ( i need to backup files only accessible from that windows )

Do a Check disk on the Win 7 drive.
Boot from win 10, open explorer, right click on the win 7 drive - properties - Tools tab - Error check - check now.

To do a Win 7 repair using the upgrade method or to upgrade win 7 to 10 you must be running win 7.

Thanks for the reply, i already performed a chkdsk /f and there was nothing wrong with the drives.
Isn't there any way i can do the upgrade without access to windows 7, or to force the boot for one time , i only need it to run one time to make the backup of the data and then i dont't need it anymore.

If it's only to get your data, you can do it with win 10.
It's all there under x:\Users\name where x: is your drive under win 10.
As the files can be hidden, open Explorer - tools - Folder options - View tab
- Hidden files and folders = Show hidden files, folders and drives
- Un mark Hide extensions of known file types (for security, should ALWAYS be unmarked)
- Un mark Hide Protected Operating system files.

Apply and restart Explorer. You will be able to see x:\Users\name folder and sub folders.

The problem with the data i need to backup is that it is linked to an sql server databse in an application for healthcare, and the only way to get back my patients's data is by being able to access the app with the database and files intact.
