My computer has been crashing to BSOD repeatedly over the last three days. We had a power outage on Sunday while I was out. Could that have set it off? I must not have had the Dump files settings right because they were not being created until today after I checked the setting again.

Attached is the Dump files. Let me know if I missed anything. Thanks in advance.

Hello mjaymay.

Apparently the latest crash dump is not saying about the reason of the BSOD precisely. So checked your earlier BSOD (two months earlier) which was caused by the network driver. Then matched the drivers date in the latest crash dump, got the result that your network driver is extremely old.

Update it from Realtek

Also make it sure that your Crucial M4-CT128M4SSD2 SSD is running the the latest firmware.

Well I thought that might take care of it, but a half-hour later it crashed again. A few times. I'm in Safe-mode with Networking right now. My Google Chrome keeps crashing too. I don't know if that has any relation. Here's the new dumps. Thanks.

Had another just after I wrote the last post. So here is the updated dump.

Also, does anyone know why I get an error "7-zip: Data Error" when I try extracting the current Video drivers from nVidia. Thanks.

You need not to extract the drivers form nvidia's download. To have a clean install of the display driver without the bundled things, follow it: Install the latest WHQL only.

  • Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
    • 3D Vision Control Driver
    • 3D Vision Driver
    • Graphics Driver
    • HD Audio Driver
    • PhysX
    • nvidia Update
    (Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
  • Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
  • Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Download the latest WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

BTW, 314.22 WHQL worked better than 320.18 WHQL.

As per Carrona.org, STOP 0x0000001E: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLEDhttp://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#top
Usual causes: Device driver, hardware, System service, compatibility, Remote control programs, memory, BIOS

So, the display driver update may not be enough. Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Also, your BIOS is old.
Code:
BiosMajorRelease = 8
BiosMinorRelease = 15
BiosVendor = American Megatrends Inc.
BiosVersion = 1304
[COLOR=Red]BiosReleaseDate = 06/07/2010[/COLOR]
If possible, update it to Version 170, dated 2011/07/11.

** Please understand that the BIOS update is risky. If you are not sure how to do it, take help of somebody who can do it.

Let us know the results.

Thanks, Arc. I uninstalled the nVidia driver and used Driver Sweeper to get everything deleted. Then installed just the driver, I did the same with the Realtek driver as well. That was this afternoon and there have been no crashes so far. Last night it crashed three time while I was not even using it. So it looks good so far. Thanks again. I think we got it worked out.
