Repetitive Authorization Prompts

It seems that most, if not all, the times that I remove a USB device (e.g. my iPod), I get a firewall authorization request, seemingly from Microsoft: "Device Display Object Function Discovery Provider".
Is this familiar to anyone?

In Win7, there are two Function Discovery related services. These are concerned with broadcasting of your computer and attached devices/resources, so if these are disabled other computers on the network will not be able to see your computer. Unless you are on a network, try tweaking the startup type of these services. This is a good guide on the subject.

Are you stopping the usb device before removing it?

Yes, I am stopping the device - that's when the message appears. The odd thing is that it is listed in the firewall list of autorized programs.
