Replacing Win 8 with Win 7

My wife has a newer laptop that came with Windows 8 installed. She hates it.

She wants to have Windows 7 instead.

Can Win 7 be installed on this machine?

Will I have to buy a Win 7 license? I have Win 7 licenses on two other computers, can I use those licences?

You Will need to buy a new Windows 7 license from newegg, tigerdirect, amazon, etc. as you can only use a license on one computer. The license key will come with a CD that you will need to install Windows off of then go to the laptops manufacturers website and download/install the hardware drivers to get everything to work.

Better yet, install Classic Shell then Windows 8 looks and feels like Windows 7. Should be easy for your wife to use and yet allow here to play with Windows 8 features any time she wants to or ignore them if she doesn't want to.

I used "Start8", similar to classic shell when I had Win 8. Looks and works exactly like Win 7

Some newer hardware does not have Win 7 drivers, so the Start8/classic shell options are a better solution.

I prefer Start8 too, but Classic Shell is free, Start8 is $4.99 (more than worth the money).
