Solved Req: How to lock down Visual Effects

I've unchecked everything except 4 items under System Properties/Advanced Settings/Visual Effects. Is there a Group Policy setting or some other way to lock down those Visual Effects settings so they do not change? In the course of installing various software and maybe by doing something I'm not aware of, these settings change on their own (for example: the animation settings which I've turned off, will suddenly be back on again). Going back and resetting them is easy, but I plan on giving this computer to someone who might not enjoy doing this.

Hello darkrats, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Usually, the only other thing that will reset your visual effects settings back to default is when you apply any changes in the Ease of Access Center.

If you like, you could export the registry keys from OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to back up your visual effects settings as a .reg file. This way if they should get changed, you could just merge the .reg file to restore them.

Thanks for the reply. I discovered that the settings were being changed everytime a screensaver was being run. I have no idea why this would happen, but turning off the screensaver took the problem away.

Odd, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was an incompatible 3rd party screensaver.
