Solved Restore from 'user profile service failed..."

Running current version of Win 7. Tried to sign on and got 'user profile service failed..." I have external drive with backups including system image. Can I go back to this? How do I connect usb drive to laptop?

The tutorial below may be able to help with this user profile error.

User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

1. Fixed User Profile Services failed error.

2. Tried backup and got error msg "Backup failed while trying to read from shadow copy on one volume being backed up error msg 0x81000037." System image can be backed up OK. Error occurs on user files backup. Ran CKDSK...no errors.

3. System shows "no windows update since July"... but on auto updates. Tried updating windows... runs forever with no progress.

Very sick pc. Best to restore from previous backup in November, but doesn't explain windows update failure?

Windows Backup will give you that error message when an included folder to be backed up no longer exists. Since this happens for the user files, did you move your user folders or profile?

You might see if this below may help with Windows Update.
