Restore to Factory Settings (Laptop)

I have a Toshiba laptop here. I have backup-ed all the files I needed. The onky remaining step is now restoring it to factory settings. I have tried pressing "0" key when turning on the laptop and repeatedly hit "0" key until the Toshiba logo disappears. However, it did not do anything and instead, the laptop comes with a "Starting Windows" screen and proceeds to desktop.

Please do help If you need extra information regarding my laptop code(s), please tell me where to find them and I'll look it up!

Additional info: Have I deleted my Disk Partition or something? How can I check this? I know that it is required or something....

Disconnect any peripherals and then make sure you hold down the "0" key continuously on switching on the laptop.

I have just read your previous threads and it begs the question. "Why do you want to revert to the factory settings?" I see you haven't completed your system specifications as requested! Also did you change your anti virus software?

Becayse I gfigured I have too many errors, e.g.: Failing to download Windows Update, extreme poor performances compared to other computers with the same specification as mine, constant lagging, troubleshooting problems, etc. Emm, I'll fill the system specification out, but I don't understand some things....

My antivirus is still Avast.

Ok, I removed all peripherals, but it still doesn't work and instead, proceeds to Desktop.

I'll try looking for it! Please be patient XD Oh, also, I tried filling the system spec, but I was unable to fill some out since I don't know where I could get the remaining info.

Nope, no installation CD, only a "BARAA100V2 ADSL2/2 + Ethernet router" CD here in my laptop bag.

If you follow the advice your were given before you would not need to to get aany other information. Here it is again:

System Info - See Your System Specs

Did your laptop come with Windows 7 Ultmate preloaded? If so have you got a sticker underneath the laptop showing the licence key? Don't quote that key number here.

It may be helpful if you posted the model number of your laptop. The manufacture is Toshiba. The model number is probably on a sticker. Or a product number. Also just to be sure are you pressing the "0" (zero) key prior to turning the laptop on and then not letting go of the "0" key until the recovery screen appears? I just restored 2 laptops to factory settings which prompted mt interest. If you could post model number that would help tremendously.

Erm.... What is Windows 7 Preloaded...? And I don't have any sticker with "License key" underneath the laptop. However, I one sticker (from 4 stickers in total) which seems suspicious. It says here:

Product number? I have a sticker here that says "Toshiba Satellite M300", is that it? I also have serial number in this sticker.

Your laptop originally had Vista installed. Did you buy this laptop new or second hand? Have you or has anyone else upgraded the Operating system? If you have no licence key for Windows 7 it would appear that you might well have an illegal copy of Windows 7 installed

Bought it like 8 years ago or so.... Then I brought it to a computer store to get it restored to factory settings and tha da, Windows 7 So yeah, I think the computer guy upgraded it for me, although I'm pretty sure I heard him say that the Windows is not genuine.... However, I no longer remember where he is now and I can't contact him anymore.

Oh, I checked in my laptop's properties and I can see the Product ID of Windows Activation. Foes this mean that it is genuine?

Ok, I filled all the system specs provided by the System Info application.

Go to this site:
Genuine Windows - Windows Help
and scroll down to "Is your Windows genuine?" and click the button. Let us know the result. If the guy at the shop said it wasn't guenuine Windows then I would tend to agree!

No it means that you need to buy a retail version of Windows 7. Whether you think that is worth doing that for an 8 year old laptop is up to you! I must report this to the moderators as we are not allowed in the Rules to help anyone who has pirated or illegal software installed.
