Guide was failing to update and "TV - Guide - About" would crash WMC. as a "maybe it will work" I restored a c: image one week old. That made no difference, but in looking at the guide at that point, I noticed that the problem started before the image date. So, I restored an image from two weeks back. That fixed the WMC problems with the guide. However, all "Protected" shows recorded between the image date and the restore date report that they can not be played because they were recorded on a different computer.

Does anyone know exactly why this happens, and if there is a way to prevent it when restoring to an earlier time? The images were created by Acronis 2013 and restored using the recovery disk made from the program. They were full system images of the C: drive, and restored sector by sector. I expected that kind of backup and restore would take care of all the security identifiers etc. Evidently not, though.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium fully patched with 2 Ceton cards with 4 tuners each with a Cable
Card in each card.

I had a DRM problem after changing processor that caused crashes when trying to play recorded programs - found a Microsoft fixit for DRM issues that sorted me out - if you still have problem will try to find it again
