My Toshiba satellite windows 7 laptop can't resume the system (black screen white text) after it had failed to resume the previous time. Now it has two options, to resume the system and the other one I forgot. The problem is my ENTER key doesn't work..... the enter key didn't function since a year ago, and I did the key mapping which is replacing the enter function to the shift key. but in this black screen it doesn't work, the shift key(enter function) only works after the windows started. normally to resume the system it has countdown until it chooses the option highlighted. But this is when it had failed(no countdown), and I've been asked to resume because it had failed before. It doesn't fixed even after I took out the battery and putting it back again. I can't go to the shop because I'm at college far away from home and shops. I really need my laptop. I'm not knowledgeable about computers and laptops stuff, and the people here can't solve my problem either. Is there any other way to solve my problem?? Please help. Thanks

Welcome qusha :)

Can you borrow or buy a full size desktop keyboard to connect to the laptop ? Is there a PS2 keyboard connection or only a USB connection on the side of your laptop ?

Try tapping the key given on first screen (F1 or F2?) to enter BIOS setup to Reset to Defaults. First take note of the SATA controller setting (should be AHCI) and see that the HD also remains first device to boot.

If this fails try F8 to access http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-failure-boot.htmlor burn a Win7 disk from http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-, boot into http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html to System Restore to before the issue arose.
