Ricoh 5 in 1 Card Reader

I've been trying multiple SD Cards, so far none of them worked. The same thing happens every time. After I insert a card into the slot, the light flashes a few times and on My Computer the card becomes the (F. I double click on it and it tells me I need to format it before I can use it. If I press Cancel it says "F:\ is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted." When I press Format Disk it says "Windows was unable to complete the format." I even brought a new card to make sure. This happened after I upgraded to Windows 7, and I've made sure all of my drivers are up to date after it. My computer is an HP dv9000z running Windows 7 64bit.

i have EXACTLY the same problem.. this is the first and only post i have found that describes this problem ...

did you solve this? got any clues? anything??? lol im desperate please tell me you found something

Hate to be discouraging, but I've spent a lot of time the last few weeks trying to "upgrade" some HP systems to Windows 7 -- and in ALL instances, the memory card readers no longer work. This is across four different HP machines, each a different model. In all cases, I had to revert to an after-market card reader that included drivers that DID work.

Well, according to HP website, there is no support for that device with an OS of 7 64 bit. Have you tried the Vista 64 bit driver and see if that would work?
