Roaming Profile Access Denied

Hello!

I've just installed Windows 7 (Technet edition) on a new PC here at work.

My AD account has a roaming profile called \\srv01\jeffery_j$\roamprof.

At some point during the logon/logoff process a new folder is created on the server called \\srv01\jeffery_j$\roamprof.V2. I'm guessing this 'V2' suffix is added is because of significant changes to the folder structure compared to the XP profile and to avoid a messy merge of the two.

Having created a file on my desktop when I log off the profile copies up to the fileserver apparently without error. If I look in the folder on the server the desktop file I created is there.

However, when I log on I get a message to the effect of "Windows has logged you on with your local profile copy due to problems accessing your roaming copy". When I look in Eventvwr I see this event:

This implies a security issue, but if I can write to the folder (as proved by the desktop icon I created) and I can browse to it what can be wrong?

As a further test I logged off from the PC, created another file in the Desktop folder on the server and logged back on to the PC. This new file does not appear on the PC.

I've checked the permissions in the Registry HKCU hive and my AD account has full control.

Any ideas, folks?

Hi, I've just installed win7 Pro after being told that the Promo Version of 7Ultimate is now going to expire.

I too cannot now load my roaming profile, the Win7Ultimate promo I was running was fine. I've seen various posts about removing the Profile list from the registry but that too hasnt worked on my system.

Any pointers would be grately apprieciated!

hi,i 've solved this issue already last night, my IT. administrator just gave this account admin rights.then the account log-in the windows 7, it can load the roaming profile from the domain server.now fix already.but i just don't know what security rights the windows 7 needs when this account needs load the roaming profile from domain server.

Darn rude of me to not keep tabs on my own thread!

IIRC I too ownership of the local and roaming folders with Admin, then re-applied permissions for the correct AD account.

It was a while ago so I might be wrong, either way, problem gone.
