Solved Run XP mode to access my programs?

on a pc running vista home premium 64 bit, can i download/install Win7 32 bit? I am having trouble with vista recognizing my xp programs. My desire is to try Win7 and run the xp mode to access my programs. Is that possible?

That is the primary function I believe for XP mode, if your using x64 Vista I would give X64 Windows 7 a go.
