Running a Gaming server using a core 2 duo computer?

Okay sorry bout my last post, but i did buy a new computer now ^w^

Though anyways im asking this, I noticed that you can set up a gaming server (Dedicated of course) And leave it running, Though of course my new computer could do pretty well with it, i though the task would be best kept with it running on it's own on my older Core 2 Duo E7300

The program im likely going to be using for running the gaming server is SRCDS (source/valve games of course) And if the core 2 duo is good enough im hopefully going to be wanting to runnn, say 2-3 servers at once if it can cope?

(RAM is 4GB btw)

I also got the thing as i noticed a post around someone saying they ran a server fine with a ancient athlon or something like that.

Your server will be mostly limited by your internet bandwidth.

My computer is fairly powerfull, at least enough to run a sever 24/7.
However my connection is barely 5Mbps, this only lets me support 4 players in say. A minecraft server, if anymore join lag and tearing appears for my users.

Since I don't want to pay extra to get more speed, paying someone else to host my server is way cheaper at a month to month basis. 10 dollars a month.

So my core2Duo will be fine? , And internet wise by the time i'll be running hopefully i'll be on good-high internet speed hopefully Too.

So it's just a question of internet, rather than system requirements?

It's both. How much the CPU can withstand being under load for a lot of time, but when it comes to server performance, it'll have to do with how well it can manage teh connections coming into it.

Well it seemed in fine quality, and i can run it a good few hours (I Can make it a fun server that'll be given like breaks while i sleep or something like that) Should manage pretty well as I found the cooling in the computer to be seemingly pretty epic yo
