Runny nose for 6 months >_>

Hey community I know this a little bit off topic but this is the only mature community I know,

I have had a runny nose for 6 months now, like it never stops and its quite frustrating I don't know how much more I can take of it >_< when I wake up my head is pounding right hard, I have tried going to the doctors but nothing so far, I have even tried this nasal spray but it has not worked,

Any idea's would be fantastic >_> thanks!

Have you tried googling your symptoms? I have no idea what it could be but I know if it was me I'd wish to see an ENT specialist asap

Thanks for the links dwarf there's quite a bit that could cause this which is scary,

And John I am not sure it switches from nostril to nostril and it gets really annoying I blow my nose to no more than 30 seconds later it starts again, sometimes I sneeze but not too often, and then sometimes my sinus's ache, but that is about it, it has been the same way for 6 months now, when I go outside sometimes it cleared up but now its dripping outside, it seems it does not matter where I go.

Sounds like it could be an allergy. Could be to dust or other indoor chemicals related to cleaners or fabrics (formaldehyde is commonly found in drapes and carpets). Dog and cat hair - cats lick their fur and the saliva drys and can cause allergy. Outdoor pollens from plants.

Adding honey made from local pollen to ones diet can help by building immunity to the pollen.

Well there was a smaller cat living here in my apartment for awhile but it was never outside of my roommates bedroom, it never was out in the kitchen or other living area's because of my allergies to cats as you said, and it is winter out is pollen strong throughout the winter?

If you haven't tried yet get to a Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. ENT or EENT here in the States and/or an Allergist.

A long term infection can result in an abcess which can turn deadly. Rare but long term headaches etc. are a symptom.

I'm not trying to be morbid but something is wrong even if just really bad allergies.

My point.
If the doctors aren't helping different doctors are in order.

Thanks for your advice, I should try getting myself into the doctors again, I wonder if what you said differs in Canada than the States?

I agree with Mike you should ask your Doctor for an appointment with a specialist this is not normal and needs someone more qualified than a family GP to see you.

The terminology might be slightly different.

Ear, Nose and Throat doctors are specialists of those items only.

I did just a general search Googled Canada ENT Doctor and got this. So you can narrow it down to your area much easier.

Also an Allergist or Allergy specialist. That should also be similar.

Sometimes on this side of the lakes the ENT and allergists will have a clinic together.
Get several specialist under one roof or same area of a bigger clinic.

I agree with Mike, John, and Joan here. You really need to see a specialist/consultant about this unfortunate condition of yours. You may need to go to your doctor to get a referal. Best of luck, and I hope that you start to feel better soon.

I would go to the Ear Nose and Throat specialist first or after your medical doctor if you need a referral.

ENT will eliminate or find the major physical problems.
If and when they eliminate everything else they may then send you to an Allergist if they don't have one in house.
Some ENT's are allergists also.
Just depends.

What OTC (over-the-counter) allery / antihistamines have you tried so far ?
