Safe Intel Celeron OC?

...turn around.
Alright, simple question - is it safe to overclock this:

Intel Celeron Single Core CPU with a stock speed of 2.66GHz.

I have a 400w PSU and I done some basic tests on an apparently stable overclock from 2.66 GHz to 3.02 GHz - but how can I be sure? I ran Prime95 for 30 minutes with no flaws, but then again my last rig died slowly, and I suspect that an overclock on it's CPU is what caused it...

I'm putting a lot of effort into this new rig, and I don't wan't my spent cash to go to waste! DX I just need to be 100% sure this thing won't pop on me.

Thanks in advance.

the main problem with overclocking is heat.

the cpu runs hotter (especially if you give it more volts), and can slowly degrade.

the solution is a good heatsink and fan for the cpu, and maybe extra case cooling too.

akasa, coolermaster, thermalright and zalman (amongst others) make a range of good products.

What MM said is right, also 1/2 an hour of Prime95 does not begin to tell the story. You need to see what temps get to on Prime95, and if they are reasonable, run at least 6 or eight hours of Prime95. A overclock with the effect of an inevitable CPU failure would be a bad trade off, obviously. A Guy

Even more actually. A truly stable overclock would be AT LEAST 12 hours of Prime95, 24 is even better.

In reality Prime blend repeats itself about every 10 hours, the entire test starts from the beginning again. So there is not much use in running the test twice or repeating any K tests that have already been passed.

I'll post this list of all the K tests in Prime Blend start to finish.
