It's been doing the updates or whatever when the computer shuts down. Then when I go to boot up the computer it does the second part of the update, it gets to 15% then says failure to configure windows updates reverting changes, reboots and then I can log in to the computer. Every time I shuts down and boots up.

The updates that fail are,

Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2705219)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2706045)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2647753)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2729094)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2732487)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2732500)

I can also go into the event viewer if you need to me link the details XML view.
They also all show up as system error
Event ID: 20
Task Category: Windows Update Agent

If can help me get these updates to work that will be great.

Hi

Have you tried with system restore .
You can restore your system to the point it was working fine , and later can proceed with the updates.

regards
Pankaj

Try installing each update separately, with a reboot inbetween - this often solves this type of problem.

I have been having trouble with either updates 2729094 and 2732500. Which ever one is the problem (I haven't narrowed it down) is causing my laptop to blue screen regularly. I have since used system restore and hidden those two updates and all looks well so far. Good luck!

Yes, system restore works fine as suggested earlier.

I did not feel like doing a system restore and did this instead, it worked thank you.
