Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 issue ?

Hi all, just put a PC build together and am having an issue with the system randomly shutting down. Would anyone know of issues with the 5850 doing this ( then sometimes turning on with all fans at max with no output )?
Have latest Amd ATI CCC 10.1. Board is ASUS P5Q Deluxe (asusupdate BIOS 2301).
Any help appreciated.

hm have you tried the hot fix? they just released one for the 5800 series

Dont sound like a Vid card problem. It sounds like the memory settings in the bios. check to make sure the mem settings are what they should be for that specific memory (ie: my memory setting are timings 8-8-8-12 @1.65v the motherboard was set to "auto" and selected something different which made my system unstable). Or also sounds like a Power supply unit failing. I have the same Vid card and a ramdom shut down dont sound like a video problem

Thanks jdfrye, are timings & DRAM voltage the only changes you advise? What you are saying may be right regarding stability. And I think the Corsair HX 850W is running fine, all temps seem good at idle -

what are they under load though? because thats what counts

Well make sure they are what the factory says they should be. the motherboard doesnt always get it right.
And about power supplies: I have seen SO MANY systems and I mean SO MANY that the power supply was the problem. If after you try thr memory timmings and they dont fix the problem find a extra power supply and see if that cures it..if not then its something else..Manybe try running with only 1 stick of ram cause it could be a bad ram stick. trouble shooting computers is no fun if you dont have extra stuff to swap out so you can find the problem.
