Hi me again sorry. Any way been having problems with PC and been formatting in every way I can. My bios sata mode selection is in ahci and also marvell ata controller is in achi. Today I formatted in sata mode selection and Marvell in RAID. Then installed windows as normal. I didn't set anything else up in raid menu etc and still using normal bios. Any way in raid mode Marvell stata says Raid 0 and 1 as raid but in normal ahci it said not present. Installing updates took a lot quicker. It took me 1hour 30 mins exact where as in ahci mode it takes 3 hours. I thought ahci mode was meant to be faster?. Also do I need to set anything else up to work right. I am just testing at the moment so if anything goes wrong I don't mind formatting again.

It is really hard to follow your post :)

You don't need to reinstall windows to change SATA modes. Install the appropriate drivers and enable them in registry (search enable ahci in forums, it will give you the idea)

How many drives do you have and which controller are they connected to? It doesn't mean anyting to set SATA to ide/ahci/raid if no drive is attached to that controller.

For RAID to work you need minimum of 2 drives (ideally same model/capacity) attached to same controller and to create a RAID array in option ROM, usually the screen after BIOS.

If you want to know exactly which driver is used for a given drive, download and run AS SSD Benchmark (no need to start benchmark) - the green text in upper left show the driver name.

Sorry some times I get carried away and cant explain things right. . Any way I have one SSD and no other apart from a Hard drive which is not connected. The SSD is a Sandisk 120GB. In that AS SSD it says.

How can you tell if the Gsata Marvell is been used. I only have one ssd connected and nothing else but on the bios the sata controller and the gsata controller are set at ahci as default. If I only have one ssd installed and no other hard drive or ssd then can one be disabled?.

You are using the iastor driver. The Intel controller on your board.
Not sure if you can disable GSATA (Marvel) controller, check in BIOS. If you can't,Change it to ide (if possible) so it doesn't search drives at boot.

Hi yes you can disable the gasta on my mother board. It says. Disabled,AHCI,IDE,Raid. I no you said you don't have to format but I will. Got nothing else to do and want to make sure I do it proper. So in my bios set the Gsata which is the marvell controller to disable and the other sata controller to AHCI?. Anything else?. Thanks and sorry for all the posts. :D

Also.

Boot mode selection = UEFI and Legacy
LAN PAX BOOT OPTION ROM = Disabled
Storage Boot option Control = Legacy only
Other PCI Device Rom priority = UEFI ROM
Network stack = Disabled.

I no I asked this be for this part but just want to make sure what to select for best option. Should I format windows in UEFI or Legacy and what ever one what options should I choose for the Boot mode etc in that list.

Sorry again I just want it doing right this time.. :)

It is proper, no difference between clean install and enable in registry. Your procedure is correct.

Hi well in the end I did a format and everything gone well. I looked in device manager though and after install motherboard drivers etc I had some what said no drivers are installed for this device.

Direct Memory access controller
High precision Event timer
Intell 7 series c216 chipset family smbus Host controller-1E22
Intell firmware hub driver: Intell 82802 firm ware hub device
numeric data processor
programmable interrupt controller
system timer properties.

There is no error like yellow ! or triangles it just says that. This is what it says in one of the devices.

I will pick on Direct memory access controller and look in the properties.

Device type: System Devices
Manufacture: (Standard system devices)
Location: on intel Z77Express chipset LPC Controller - 1E44

device status
No drivers are installed for this device

I am formatting because been having problems with shadows looking dark purple round objects. Objects looking like anti aliasing is on one second and off the next. As graphics look like jaggy when stood still bit when moving they seem smooth on all objects surfaces. Could the drivers not been installed properly have anything to do with it?.

Did you install chipset drivers yet?

Gah, you told you already installed them :)

It may be possible that these are LPT/Serial/Parallel ports or the sort hardware combination - What is a Intel LPC Interface Controller. - Super User I always disable these maybe that's why I never saw such devices.

You can go into BIOS and disable them since you won't need.
- LPT
- Serial ports
- Parallel ports
- Floppy disk controller
See if you get rid of them, or try if Windows Update will see them.
