Solved SATA Problem - Doesnt Detect HDD

On my htpc it wont boot, it doesnt recognized the sata hdd, but if i pop the hdd in an enclosure and boot from usb, it works perfectly! , i have tried 2 sata ports and still have 2 to go. should i continue or will it still be a p[problem in the others

Where's the rest?

- must be a million Sata disks and sizes out there, bios version, bios settings, sata driver basic or raid, known working 6Gbs lead/sata port (check manual) 32/64 bit OS/driver - need I go on?
2TB+ need further tweaking or just wont work etc. Jumper on disk!

Sorry about that un-detailed question, I was panicing. I tried the 3rd port and it was fine, silly question from someone like me

Glad you are up 'n running!

For future readers - some motherboards require specific sata ports for hard-drives.(check yer manuals!)

Other Sata ports are made - just for Optical drives etc

The new 6GBs hard drives also need certified 6Gbs cables to connect with if your motherboard supports these speeds - yer old cables only probably support up to 1.5/3Gbs (supplied with older m/boards)

I found it strange because it had ran on that port for over six months. Guess it damaged when i unplugged the hdd
