Saved game problems

I am running Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit. I have recently started playing Governor of Poker, (the full version). However, although my game saves while the PC is on, as soon as I switch off the saved game is lost, (very annoying if you have completed 3 or 4 levels and have to start again). The other problem is that I can't find the saved game folder. It is not in the usual places ie appdata or programdata on the C drive. I only have the one drive so if anybody can help as to where the folder is and how to save games permanently it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation

Hi Dolfin,

The default storage location for game saves in Windows 7 is C:\Users\*username*\Saved Games. I'd try checking there first. Let us know.

I've tried there, the only folder in "saved games" is "microsoft games" which is empty.

Thanks

The default storage location for game saves in Windows 7 is C:\Users\*username*\Saved Games.

That might have been the intent with Windows 7, but games are a different reality. Game saves can be just about anywhere depending on the game. I have found game save folders in all of the following locations,

C:\Users\Your Name\Documents
C:\Users\Public\Documents
C:\Users\Your Name\Documents\My Games

P.S. A quick Goodle search and I found one site (first link actually) that says it can be found here,

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\

Saved game problem

Thanks again but the file isn't in any of those folders either. Could it possibly be in a temp file somewhere, which might explain why the save doesn't remain on reboot?

You tried doing a search of C:\ using governor or poker as the search terms to see if you can find it that way?

I have just tried that on your advice and the file shows up on the search. However if I navigate to the folder where it is located then there is no sign of it. Anyway thanks for all your help so far, at least I know where it is. Next is, can I do anything to make the file save the game on a permanent basis instead of just until next reboot?

Thanks again

Quick update: I have rebooted and the save file has disappeared. It will obviously re-appear the next time I save a game, but how do I get it to stop disappearing?

Have you gone the the game maker's website to see what they say about the issue? If not, it'd be a good place to look.

Good luck

Hi Dolfin,

Try submitting a request here: Games at Miniclip.com - Play Free Games
There's also a Game Bug Reporting forum here: The Miniclip.com Forums

Since it looks to be an indie game, you'll probably get a reasonably quick response. Let us know if you don't hear back from them.

Cheers,

C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Youdagames\Governor of Poker\save

is the location of the saved file. The filename will be something like
GovernorOfPoker_YOUR_NAME.txt

Easiest way to find something like this is save you game then search the hard drive for files saved that day. If it isnt in that location. That is where my files are for this game.

Solution is here

hi dolfin
i had the same problem in win7 x64

save your game again and search about the file has changed on that times you have saved, you will find it in windows drive at this path, notice that when you clear the cookies this file will be deleted, so after play game copy that to your favorite path,
please send an email to me when you succeed my friend :)

C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\5L3ZVKB8\localhost
