Using MSIE 9.0, have 87 webpages open (probably ~10 actual IE windows are open, the rest are tabbed within each window)

1.) Any possible "shortcut" to add them all to a favorite's folder (doesn't NEED to be in favorites, per se - just want to save the links all at once into a folder) I know the links must be saved somewhere, as they can be restored - might I just be able to copy these? Location?

2.) I'm far less optimistic about this one, but I'll include it, as it ties into the same context: Anyway to save a favorite/link AND it's own Personal History. By that I mean the history of linked pages that got me to the final page. (the list of links in dropdown menu if one right clicks the "BACK" arrow in IE)

Maybe someone has or has seen a script already written for this? Anything!...

Thanks for any help or suggestions,
Mike :)

This is not a solution; I can't help, as I'm not an MSIE user. But just for future reference, if you use Firefox this is very easy. All you have to do is right click on one of the open tabs of a window and one of the available options is to save all open tabs as a folder.

I'm not pointing this out in order to be smug about being a FF fan - just that if this is something you need to do often then perhaps you need to consider changing browser.

Also, one of the available addons is called Session Manager. This addon, amongst other things, will let you save the current browser state (what windows are open & all tabs). You can then retrieve that saved state file at any time and re-open them all in an identical form. I'm almost certain that this includes the history of each tab, as you specified.

Hi

1 – As you can see, there are more than one tab are opened. To save them all in a folder, follow the steps.

2 – Go to star or press Alt+C, select the down shaped arrow and click Add current tabs to favorites.

3 – Now all the opened tabs are saved here as favorite. To view them in the folder, press Alt+C and then select the folder to see.

4 – To open the entire favorite site in a folder at once, select a folder from the Favorites tab, and press Ctrl+Enter.

More from here (microsoftfeed.com)

Hope this helps and Happy Holidays

Regards

Thank you very much both, system is just to overloaded & hot this time to allow me to save favorites correctly. CPU: 105C, MOBO: 100C , GPU 108C !!! happened rather suddenly, and I'd not like to lose the pages and their individual histories (guess I'll have to settle for recovery of (most) pages on restart and lose the history.

I do appreciate the detailed tutorial, Lomai! And no AussieColin, the Firefox reference doesn't sound smug! I do have it and use it at times, as well as the rest of the common browsers (mostly for testing any web design functional differences when I work on a website,) but It may have been a better choice (in hindsight!) Guess it's time to cut my losses! :)

Thanks again for your replies!
Mike

Thanks roncerr,

Still working on it now some 12 hours later and I'm half way at best. System preformace is the real issue. following your advice the IE window flashes for a while, occasionally minimizes, and to restore the window takes 10 minutes+, (im not on that computer now obviously) then it will freeze sometimes and recover...etc...

then when it finally saves into say the fav bar and I close it, it sometimes didn't save correctly and is not in favorites (yes, I've checked to be sure it was not just sored wrong)

Thanks,
Mike

Sure sounds like that is job #1. Any remaining problem with IE can probably be fixed with a reset: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset.

Got it mostly all saved finally! Still wish I knew if that info existed in a folder or a URL-list file, or in the registry somewhere. Since a sudden power "cut" would be able to restore the current opened pages in most cases - that means it not just in memory.

@roncerr - (It's obviously the open windows, or a memory leak somewhere that caused the system to drag, I was just in damage control mode, and was hoping for a unique idea, or at least one that's novel to me)

But everyone's help was very much appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike :)
