yeah, i got just about the same thing.

i uninstalled the creative ones then after a restet got windows to get its own, then i set my speakers from 'sound' in control panel. works but i dont get quad audio on MP3's like i did in XP :(

i think i will just have to wait for an update from creative labs. this sort of thing happened when Vista was released too.

i am going to try an advanced mixed application like SRS sandbox. not ideal though. sorry i cant help more

I have the Auzentech Prelude which uses Creative drivers and I can not get sound from more than 2 speakers.

When I try to Enable Dolby Digital I get the message "The Creative audio service is not started. Please reinstall the application."

I have a digital cable running from my SPDIF out to my Onkyo 5.1 receiver. When this worked with the XP OS my receiver displayed Coaxial. Now I can click it to Coaxial but it changes it back to stereo.

I just updated to Windows 7, and have this problem with no 5.1 sound for my SB Audigy card. I downloaded the drivers from Creative for this OS, and only can get 2/2.1 sound option. So as a quick fix until I can get a Windows 7 compatible 5.1 sound card, I just used a 3-way splitter. Simply put, these usually come with good speaker sets, like the logitech speakers I purchased some time ago. They come with an adapter that has a red/white RCA input, and 3 outputs for the speaker system. You can get a cheap cable that plugs into the 3.5mm front speaker jack(usually green), and the other end of the cable is the red/white RCA plugs. This works as a great quick-fix until something better can be had. If you don't have this 3-way adapter, you can get two 2-way 3.5mm stereo splitter from Radio Shack and have 3 plugs available as well. Either way, I get great sound from all the speakers...not true 5.1 I know, but it does solve what is hopefully a temporary problem.

I was not able to get my recording software to work becuase of the sound card issue, so after just 2 days, yes 2 days I rolled back my operating system to Windows XP...now all is as it was, and is good. If you wish to roll back to a previous version of windows, and have a "Windows.old" folder still on your hard drive, it is easy, and takes less than an hour. Most everything will be how you left it. Only had to re-install Antivirus program. :D The directions do this are at:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971760

Be sure to follow the directions. In step 4, you might get message system cannot find specified file...that is ok, go onto the next command line in that step. See you back on a better OS!!!

Everything works fine with XP, but not W7. You run a Soundblaster speaker test and they all work, but when you play music only one stereo output (2 speakers) work.

This is what WORKED for me. A Beta driver from Creative. Don't forget to set the speakers back to 5.1 after you install.
