Hellow Guys. First i would like to congrat all the people that are involved to create a so good forum page. Well my problem is as you can understand is that i can not install the SB X-FI Extreme Audio on My Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. I have 2 sound cads on my system. The first is the previous and the second is one SB Audigy SE. I have succesfully install the Audigy but the X-FI just doesn't want to be install. I have download the latest drivers for the X-FI ( 1_04_0090), i run the setup it says updating windows drivers and that's it. It ask for a restart , and when i log on again to my system hasn't change. In The Device Manager i see correct the SB AUDIGY but i have ïn the list of Öther Devices the Multimedia Audio Controller with the (!) showing . Don't know what is the problem. Maybe the setup file says about "Web Update Instalation"?. Or it is a conflict between these 2 sound cards?
Thank You.

Please first take a look at Device Manager and see if you have a yellow exclamation mark for your sound card. Out of curiosity, why do you have two sound card? You could also pull the second sound card and install the drivers for the first in case there's a conflict.

Yeah Lemur I have yellow exclamation mark in the device manager under "other devices" which says "Multimedia Audio Controller" and it is the X-FI for sure. I am using 2 sound cards for the virtual dj program. First card to the speakers and second card to the headphones.

For the heck of it, turn the pc off/unplug and pull the second card out. Then try installing the driver. If there is an existing driver, you may have to delete it first.

I've had a pc on my desk a while back with the same two cards I used these drivers Win7 X-Fi Drivers for the X-Fi and Win 7 Audigy Se Drivers for the audigy card. The thing is why do you want to have 2 Creative cards you can only have 1 card as the default at any given time. It might be best to have just the X-fi installed and just switch between the speakers and headset as you need to. ;)

Would be good that if u want to play a game with the speakers and chat with the headphones. The problem is that virtual dj needs 2 cards at the same time. It can not use one card for the speakers and the monitoring (headphones) as well.

One very good reason that you can't get the drivers to install for the second card, you are essentially trying to install the same card. Despite it having X-Fi in its name, the Xtreme Audio is about as much a X-Fi as any onboard audio. All that card is is a re-named Audigy SE, which in turn is nothing more than a re-named SB Live 24 bit. The only thing the Xtreme Audio has in relation to an actual X-Fi is it uses some of the X-Fi software.

In fact at one point the drivers for each were interchangeable with each other until Creative removed the DevID's for the older cards from the Xtreme Audio driver (not sure if they have put them back or not). That would be why you can't get the driver for the Xtreme Audio to install, it basically already is.

If you want to use 2 sound cards so you can get sound from two applications at the same time, you would be better off picking on of the Creative cards and using the onboard audio for the other. Don't forget that something like using 2 sound cards also only works if one of the applications has the option in it to use an audio device other than the system default; something like Windows Media player doesn't, where something like Winamp does.
