Try this to install a xp driver on Windows 7 ( this resolves the OS mismatch if it wont install normally) :
To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.
Driver Page - SnapScan 1236u - Drivers Download Page - Scanners - Agfa

forget drivers

Try Vuescan. Vuescan in many cases talks to scanner NOT the driver so you do not need driver. U can use it on Mac/Linux/Win (including 7 in 64 bit).

I've got old Canon scanner and neither Canon nor Microsoft help; for me this s/w works with borrowed Minolta better than original Minolta s/w...

Drivers Download Page for Scanners and Digital Cameras - Agfa

you might try that an see if you can find the right drivers.

Software and driver downloads for scanners and digital cameras
Agfa discontinued its DTP scanner product line (SnapScan, DuoScan, Horizon and Arcus range) and digital cameras (ephoto, ActionCam, StudioCam) at the end of 2001. However, driver & software downloads as well as manuals remain available on this page.

Not every camera/scanner supported!

Windows XP
Windows XP does not support the scanners with parallel ports:
SnapScan EZ, SnapScan 310 p, SnapScan 1212 p, SnapScan 1200 p.

Agfa will not make XP drivers in the future for these scanners as it stopped its desktop scanners and digital camera business in September 2001.
Good luck

snuffy:

Donwloaded the drivers just from that page; still don't work.

thanks, anyway.

I did find that on Windows Vista, last week, to install a Agfa scanner, printer, I did get the program to work when I installed the suite using compatible mode. You might try the same, then update the drivers,
Can not recall for certain the scanner by name. but it was a B**** to get it working.
Also found many different Lexmark Scanner, Printers simply have crap for programs. (new from Walmart) the lady showed me the BOX it came in, has Vista - XP approved logo, and it took just about 2 hours to get it finally working.

PS: Lexmark drivers were crap, but HP had special drivers on there site for Lexmark scanner, printer.
