Hello,

I have a recurring problem that is getting quite bothersome to be operating around. My issue is that about twenty seconds or so after I initially get to my desktop after logging into my computer the screen and seemingly the entire computer up and freezes, with neither the touchpad or the center keyboard mouse working. Ctrl-Alt-Delete does nothing, and the keyboard itself seems to go dead as well, forcing me to force a shutdown and only operate in Safe Mode. This has all occurred after I was tweaking the graphics display and the computer lagged a bit and froze, which i thought to not be a major problem until I tried shutting it down and restarting it, which is when the problem arose. I have Windows 7 Professional 32bit and the computer is a Lenovo X201 Tablet.

I had exactly the same problem after installing a new graphics card, thing is I forgot to uninstall the old drivers/suite beforehand and they clashed. Screen would freeze about 5-10 seconds after desktop loaded. I would be pretty confident its a graphics driver/card issue.
Start in safe mode and uninstall or roll back graphics card drivers..

That is what I had thought the problem would be after reading threads with similar topics, but I didn't want to uninstall something I didn't need to. You basically described the problem I am having but I had not installed a new graphics card, I only changed some settings. But thank you I will give it a shot.
