Hi all,

Is there a way to stop my screen from going to sleep when listening to music (Spotify mainly) and also when listening to the radio through BBC iPlayer. Full screen video works as it should, not going to sleep while it's playing.

Thanks all!

Hey mate,

I can give you a bit of a workaround, load Windows Media Player - start it playing some content, but keep the volume slider for this program at ZERO. Then your computer's screen saver should not start up, and your computer should not go to sleep. If it does alter the WMP settings to stop it from doing so.

I can only imagine that Spotify isn't as well coded as WMP and it doesn't provide a "stop the screen saver from coming on" function.

Good luck,

Cheers

Davo

If the monitor is turning off, set the Power Options to Turn off the display: Never.
To stop the screen saver from kicking in, set it to (None).

Hey mate,

I can give you a bit of a workaround

Cheers, I'll give that a try :) It seems like the only way to do this is via a workaround which is quite a shame; sometimes I'll fall asleep while watching something and when that program is finished, the screen will turn off and in time, so will my TV.

The power saving won't recognise Spotify or BBC iPlayer as playing music, so it'll turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity, but that seems to be their fault and not something I can sort out in Windows 7.

Thank you for your help though :)

Edit: I'll leave the thread unsolved for a couple of days to see if anyone knows of a way to fix this behaviour, but will come back and mark as solved if nothing is found.
