Screen open and close button displays off the screen

My friend purchased an HP Windows 7 professional 64 bit computer two weeks ago.

From the desktop when he clicks on my computer, control panel etc. the screen opens to maximum view. In the upper right-hand corner where the X (close) button and the full screen button is located these buttons are off the screen with only the bottom slight edge of the buttons showing.

I have checked the display settings and the video card settings and everything appears to be OK.

Does anyone know how I can shrink the screen slightly so these buttons appear in the upper right-hand corner?

Are you able to nab the corner and drag it to the center of the screen? If so hold down the Shift key, expand it and close the window then release the Shift key and open it again.

If its a desktop, on the monitor you'll find a button to adjust the screen size. Make it smaller to fit the screen.

As you didn't gave us the hardware specs, it's difficult to give a more precise suggestion.
- Also look if the screen resolution is set to the recomended. Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution
- Open device manager to see if all drivers are installed (no yellow alerts) Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Device Manager
