When I am typing in a form, writing in word pad, no matter what I am doing, all of a sudden whatever is on the screen will suddenly get smaller in size until it can't be read. To bring it back to size, I have to press CTRL and the Plus (+) key to bring it back to size. What is causing this, and how can I lock the screen when it's being used?

Have no idea of what you're saying, maybe some key on your keyboard is stuck and remains pressed.

Describe a bit more. It seems impossible to even imagine such a situation.

I've never had this to happen before on any computer. There are no keys stuck. The only way I can get around it, is to use the old hunt and peck system. I can't imagine it happening either....When I first got this laptop it didn't happen. I was just in hopes there was someway to lock the screen image in place.
Thanks for your reply.

I would think there`s something up with the touchpad. Try hooking up an external mouse and see if it still happens, but it does sound like something is getting stuck.

Perhaps you could post screenshot showing the problem?
I can't post a screen shot. Can you imagine what your working on something and it zooming in or out all of a sudden without touching the keyboard. If I don't hit a key to stop it, it will get so large or small you can't read anything. I can't explain this any more simple than this.

Hello Bob, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm on the same thought as what Brian posted above.

Double check your touchpad settings to see if you have a pinch zoom type option enabled. If so, disable it to see if this problem continues. :)

  • Fine. Click Start :orb: > Type "msconfig" and hit Enter.
  • Now click on the Startup tab and uncheck anything that says "touchpad" or "pointing device" or similar.
  • Now click on Services tab and check on "Hide all Microsoft services". Now in the list above, uncheck anything that says "touchpad" or "pointing device" or similar.
  • Now restart your system and check if the problem still persists and report back.

Note: Doing the above will disable touchpad features like pinch zoom and all that.

Thanks Brink,
I finally found the Pinch Zoom option, and it was enabled. I disabled it, so I'll see if that takes care of the problem. I glad someone read the problem that understands what their reading.

I understood. :) Told you something was up with the touchpad I did.

Maybe in the future you could refrain from insulting other members. :D
