Currently not at my computer, so won't be able to provide much information until tomorrow. Just want to see if anyone knows a possible cause off the top of their head.

This seems to be an isolated event, as neither the laptop or headset has had any major problems in the past. After forcing the computer to shut down using the power button and rebooting, it worked normally for many hours.

So I am running Windows 7 Home Professional x64, and the laptop hasn't had any major problems. I plug in my USB headset (Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000) and the screen suddenly turns to this.

At this point, the laptop is on but completely unresponsive.

My apologies if the post isn't up to par, it's my first time posting here.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

As I mentioned in the original post, the laptop was completely fine upon a normal reboot. I used the laptop (and the USB headset that seems to have caused the problem) for 8~9 hours with no problems.

If this just happened once, best bet is to look through event logs or reliability history for the day - chances are there might have been another application updating it self in background at the time(or just a glitch caused by partial, unfiltered paging clash)
