screensaver and BF2

my screensaver will not automatically start whenever I exit BF2.
the only solution then is manually starting it or rebooting.
I have no idea where to start. It works fine before I start the game. After the 3 hours of playing I do, the screensaver will not play.
I'm using evga's precision, but honestly this problem precedes it's installation.

Can you verify that the screensaver is still enabled after you shut down the game? Maybe the game is disabling it?

yes the screensaver is indeed still enabled.

I assume you have the 1.5 patch installed? If so depending on when you installed it and where you got it from it may not include this,

don't let the name fool you, this issue happened to quite a few people after installing 1.5 and that hotfix fixed it (I was one of them as well).
