I was just using the create a restore point option.
They hide the old restore points under an option you have to select. But once opened I only see a delete option for everything which the system tells you that the delete will do.

How are just the oldest restore points deleted selectively:

I tried highlight to delete and didn't get that working.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but the Tools - System Restore feature in Piriform CCleaner allows you to selectively remove restore points in Windows 7.

Note: If you decide to install and use it, make sure to read each window carefully during the install process so you don't install any extras (antivirus, browser, etc.) it offers.

That a lot of options at the link.

I've used the Disk Cleanup Extended from the discussion here on Sevenforums and on the options you show in the link it shows disk cleanup and clicking on 'system' option.

My goal from looking at this is, yes, just keep the most recent one restore point. Which option number is that? I'm lost.

thanks.

If option 2 step 8 is go Winkey+r > type cleanmgr > More Options tab (top) > System Restore and Shadow copies clink on Cleanup then that's what I did.

Fore safety I made a new restore right away and also redid a profile file from a program that likes to
forgeth things.

Ready to mark solved.

Thanks about CCleaner. I am wary of using those products other than in a report mode.
The solution above works and I have no reason to keep older restore points. Using the word selectively
may have been inaccurate.

I appreciate the help that is always available at Sevenforums on many issues.

On the Restore points methods, some seem buried in a nest of menus.

On my wish list would be an option in the Disk Cleanup Extended program here at Sevenforums
to save that last restore point. It's too easy to forget about the ones building up-- or conversly
having none from setting it up incorrectly and being stuck when the need arises.

I don't know of any way to run Disk Cleanup Extended and save the last restore point.
I know CCleaner does, because I use the Professional Edition. I've never had an issue using the cleaner part, don't use the registry cleaner however. I know quite a few individuals, and some that have posted on SevenForums that have expewrienced problems. Most had custom software installed, video editing software, sound editing software and other special purpose apps.

We always recommend regular backups to an external hard drive, as my footer says:
Backup your system regularly, it's not a question of IF, it's a question of WHEN you will need it!

I'm always tinkering with one SSD I have with Win7x64 Home Premium on it. Full disk image, crash and trash, try to fix, if nothing works that I try, reimage and good to go.

Wishing you and yours the best!

Happy Computing!

Snick
