Server 2008 driver in Windows 7?

I have an old Dell Optiplex GX520. I put a Radeon 7000 PCI card in it and have been trying to come up with a 64 bit video driver for Windows 7.

I found a x64 driver from Dell for Server 2008 x64. It's signed and all that goodness, but 7 isn't having it.

I also found one from ATi where someone made a few alterations to the INF. It will install, then 7 complains about it not being signed and disables it.

I don't care about Aero, or DirectX or fancy games on it, I just want it to be able to be set to the resolutions the card supports. It's the only PCI video card I have.

You need the proper driver to both install properly, and to keep Windows from complaining.

That driver is for the HD series. This card is ancient, 7000, no HD. Far as I know there's no such thing as a PCI (not PCIe) HD7000.

I finally went to my last resort, DriverMax. It found one, installed it, it works. Don't know what it was originally for but at least it's not limited to low resolutions. Made a backup of the driver so if it's ever needed again I won't have to use DriverMax to get it.

Scores a (not at all surprising) 1.0 on the Windows Experience scale.

Hmmm. Sorry. I didn't know that ATI made a 7000. I just assumed HD7000. My bad.
