Solved server settings for gmail in W.E's 2012

I tried this 587 port today, but it also stays highlighted. I give up trying to synchronize this e mail account with my Widows Essential 2012.

For what it's worth, I checked the Windows Live Mail 2012 system on my older Win 7 pc, and the outgoing server port always stays highlighted as well, so I don't think that is part of the issue. Suggest you contact your ISP and see if they can help. I wouldn't mark this thread solved since we really haven't identified the cause of your problem.

Thanks Gary, I have now changed the setting in my gmail account to forward my e mails to my Windows mail account.
At least I will know when to check my gmail account.
